คำบุพบทบอกสถานที่ (Prepositions of Place) เป็นคำบุพบทที่ใช้อธิบายสถานที่ พื้นที่เพื่อให้ข้อมูลและกำหนดตำแหน่งของวัตถุหรือเหตุการณ์ดังกล่าวโดยเฉพาะ คำบุพบทบอกสถานที่จะรวมกับคำนามของสถานที่โดยตรง

• The dog is lying in the kitchen. (สุนัขกำลังนอนอยู่ในครัว)

หลักการใช้  In, On, At

คำบุพบทบอกสถานที่ “in”

คำบุพบท “in” มักใช้เพื่อระบุตำแหน่งภายในพื้นที่ขนาดใหญ่ พื้นที่ปิด หรือเขตภูมิศาสตร์ที่เฉพาะเจาะจง

• in the box (ในกล่อง) 
• in the universe (ในจักรวาล)
• in the north of the town (อยู่ทางตอนเหนือของเมือง)
• in a queue (อยู่ในแถวรอคอย) 

คำบุพบทบอกสถานที่ “on” 

คำบุพบท “on” ใช้สื่อถึงตำแหน่งที่อยู่บนพื้นผิวเรียบหรือเส้นตรง

• on the table (บนโต๊ะ)
• on Yellow Street (บนถนน Yellow)
• on the fifth floor (บนชั้นห้า)
• on the bus (อยู่บนรถเมล์)
• on the left hand side of the road (อยู่ทางซ้ายมือของถนน)

คำบุพบทบอกสถานที่ “at” 

คำบุพบท “at” ใช้เมื่อคุณต้องการกล่าวถึงจุดใดจุดหนึ่ง ที่อยู่ หรือตำแหน่งที่เฉพาะเจาะจง

• at the hospital (อยู่ที่โรงพยาบาล)
• at 991/1 Rama 1 street (อยู่ที่ 991/1 ถนนพระรามที่ 1)
• at the party (ในงานปาร์ตี้)

Below	หมายถึงตำแหน่งที่ต่ำกว่า แต่ไม่จำเป็นต้องติดต่อกัน	The egg sinks below the water surface.(ไข่จะจมอยู่ใต้ผิวน้ำ)
Under	Under มักใช้เพื่อเน้นว่าวัตถุอยู่ในตำแหน่งที่ต่ำกว่า โดยสัมผัสกับวัตถุด้านบน	The book is under the pen.(หนังสือเล่มนี้อยู่ใต้ปากกา)

Between vs Among

Among	ในระหว่าง/ ในอธิบายตำแหน่งระหว่างวัตถุ 3 ชิ้นขึ้นไป	Tom is the smartest student among us.(ทอมเป็นนักเรียนที่ฉลาดที่สุดในหมู่พวกเรา)

Beside vs Besides

Beside	ข้างๆอธิบายตำแหน่งที่อยู่ติดกับจุดสังเกต	The restaurant is next to/by/beside the post office.(ร้านอาหารตั้งอยู่ข้างๆกับที่ทำการไปรษณีย์)
Besides	นอกจากนี้ , อีกด้วย , มิหนำซ้ำใช้เติมข้อมูลเพิ่มเข้าไป	Besides English, she speaks Thai.(นอกจากภาษาอังกฤษแล้ว เธอก็ยังพูดภาษาไทยด้วย)

In Front Of vs Opposite

In Front Of	ด้านหน้าอธิบายตำแหน่งด้านหน้า บดบังจุดสังเกต	The teacher is standing in front of the desk.(ครูยืนอยู่หน้าโต๊ะ)
Opposite	อยู่ด้านตรงข้ามอธิบายตำแหน่งอยู่ฝั่งตรงข้าม	The hospital is opposite the bank.(โรงพยาบาลอยู่ฝั่งตรงข้ามกับธนาคาร)

การผกผันกับ prepositions of place คำบุพบทบอกสถานที่

หมายเหตุ: ถ้าประธานเป็นสรรพนามส่วนตัว จะไม่มีการใช้การผกผัน
